The Groupon craze is the fastest growing internet marketing tool sweeping the nation. Groupons are so popular because they offer groups of consumers deep discounts on all types of goods and services. And Attorneys are jumping at the opportunity to reel in some new clients. However, an ethics subcommittee of the North Carolina State Bar is telling North Carolina Lawyers, "hold your horses", you can't participate. Why? Because Groupon advertising allows the Advertiser to market the lawyer's goods and services for a percentage of the profits. And according to the ethics subcommittee that arrangement is a violation of NC Rules of Professional Conduct 7.6 which clearly states that lawyers cannot share fees with a nonlawyer.
So Legal Eagles if you plan to go solo remember that groupons are a no,no!
