With all the hype surrounding the NCAA men's basketball tournament (and the various conference tournaments) going on right now, some sports fans have missed out on what is happening in the NFL. Last week, NFL players and team owners failed to reach an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement. As a result of this failure to make a deal, NFL owners have locked out players from training facilities and stopped paying them. In response, the players have decertified their union and filed an antitrust complaint in Minnesota federal courts.
There are many interesting legal issues unfolding in this case. Why did the players' file an antitrust complaint? What side is in the right? What happens next? Why was the lawsuit filed in Minnesota of all places?!
